Founded in 1934, the Sarpy County Historical Society is dedicated to protecting, preserving, and promoting the rich and diverse history of Sarpy County, Nebraska. As stewards of our local heritage, the Historical Society operates several significant historic sites, including the Sarpy County Museum, the Bellevue Log Cabin, the Bellevue Depot, and the Moses Merrill Mission site.
The Sarpy County Museum serves as the centerpiece of these efforts, housing a wide range of historical artifacts, photographs, and archives that tell the story of the region—from Native American history and early settlement through modern development. The museum offers guided tours, educational programs, community events, and research support to students, genealogists, and history enthusiasts.
While the Historical Society receives partial funding from Sarpy County, much of our work is made possible through the generous support of members, volunteers, donors, and community partners. Your contributions help us expand our exhibits, maintain our historic sites, and continue offering meaningful educational and cultural experiences for all ages.
Join us in preserving Sarpy County’s past—and building its future.
